Message From Our President
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new New York Association for play therapy website. Thank you for visiting! We hope that you find the new layout and features informative and helpful. Our intention is to use this site to keep you updated on NYAPT happenings and upcoming events, so be sure to visit frequently! One of our primary goals is to create the opportunity for more online interaction. Please take a minute to check out the new features and let us know what you think!
The NYAPT is a chartered state branch through the Association for Play Therapy that was awarded Gold Branch status in 2004, 2006 and 2010. Chartered in 1996, we are a non-profit, tax-exempt professional organization offering specialized training and information on play therapy.
In keeping with this mission we are pleased to announce several new NYAPT ventures:
Regional Training Sites:
NYAPT is pleased to announce that we now have several regional training sites in different areas of the state. These sites include locations in Albany, Dutchess Co., New York City, Rochester, and Westchester Co. Please check out the Training Section of this site for more information on the schedule for, and locations of, these trainings.
Annual Conference:
NYAPT offers exciting annual training opportunities. Each year, typically in the spring, NYAPT offers a two day annual play therapy conference. Be sure to check out this year’s annual conference brochure posted on this site!
Annual Conference Support:
NYAPT is pleased to announce that there are now some avenues available for students and members to apply for assistance with the cost of the registration fees for the annual conference. For more information please refer to the conference scholarship section in the February 2011 newsletter located in the Resource Section of this site.
Communication and Interface:
As I mentioned above, one of our primary objectives is to create the opportunity for more member interaction. Toward this end NYAPT is now linked to facebook, twitter and linkden accounts. Our intention is to use these features to help increase online interaction and keep members informed about upcoming events. Please take a moment to check out these networks.
We hope that you enjoy the new features.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Enjoy! Mary Anne Assini, LCSW-R, RPT-S
President, NYAPT
