Overview:
This workshop will focus on issues relating to grief and loss among young children dealing with the loss of a parent through death, deployment, divorce, or incarceration. Participants can expect an in-depth examination of grief, manifesting behaviors and themes seen in the play room relating to parental loss. A variety of techniques will be presented for helping clients manage the symptoms and issues that are associated with grief and parental loss. Additionally, several techniques will be discussed for working with caregivers of children who have lost a parent. The presentation will be given in PowerPoint format and will involve interactive lecture and interactive components. The theoretical framework in which this presentation falls is Prescriptive Play Therapy.
